For the little story…

Founded by Mr. Joe Celestino, the Darling was born in 1963. It was at this time that the first professional players cut their teeth here. Moreover, a few programs from l’Heure des quilles have been filmed there. Mythical place and true institution in Montreal, the room has kept its famous electric Brunswick machines of yesteryear and its magnificent wooden alleys, for an authentic bowling experience of yesteryear.

New administration

Since March 1, 2014, Mrs. Isabelle Lavoie is the new owner of the Salon de quilles Darling. For Isabelle, bowling rhymes with family: her father and her grandfather, before her, were managers of bowling alleys (from Broadway in the 1950s to Montreal East, followed by the bowling alley at the Center récréatif Édouard-Rivest until ‘in 2000.). She reconnects with the family tradition by renewing it thanks to her energy and her experience in marketing communications in the cultural field. Come and see her, she is a real enthusiast and will be happy to tell you several tasty anecdotes about behind the scenes of the bowling alley!

Renovations…

Major renovations have been carried out since the summer of 2014 to restore the hall to its retro 1960s look: sandblasting and varnishing of the 24 aisles, new floor coverings and new walls and counters, major cleaning, painting, purchase of kitchen and bar equipment, purchase of new bowling pins, in addition to the complete overhaul of the website and its visual signature.

With the constant aim of offering a great experience and a return in time to her customers, the Patroness is always on the lookout for decorative elements from the 60s. Each visit is unique since the decor is constantly being developed!

More work is to come over the next few years…
